Q: Anyone have a pitbull or boxer female up for adoption/sale?
I’m searching for a female pitbull or boxer to adopt. Perferably puppy or young age. Must be good with other small dogs.
I’m looking for a female boxer or pit bull to adopt. Around puppy age or young age. Must be good with other small dogs. In the Louisville, Kentucky area.

A: I would go to your local shelter or petfinder.com

Q: HOW DO I FIND THE RIGHT HOME FOR MY BOXER PUP? What is a reasonable adoption fee?
My male boxer is 9-months. He is neutered and great with my two boys (2 & 8). He’s also loving with my other dog. We have to find him a new home due to health issues that started b/c of a dog allergy I didn’t know I had. We made the painful decision of choosing him over our other dog b/c he sheds more and is bigger.
I posted him on craigslist and petfinder and have found some potential candidates. Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated. We want what’s best for him.
Samantha..I appreciate your help but you’re apparently not familiar with Boxers. They are EXTREME shedders for being such a short haired dog.
As far as how much I paid for him…I paid $1,200 plus all his vacs ($80 each visit) and neutering ($375) and Flea and tick medicine ($70 each month). I don’t think I’ll get that…but like i said..my main concern is finding him the right home…not making back what I paid.

A: I would suggest taking him to a boxer rescue organization. They will screen the potential new “parents” before letting someone take him home. If you don’t want to do that, then I suggest you schedule a time to meet with these people and see if they have a good yard for him where he’ll be safe and if they seem like good people. Ask a few questions about how much time they will have for a puppy and how often they will be able to walk him. If you are serious about finding him a good home, then the scumbags who just want a puppy for fun until the excitement wears off, will back off and look for an easier way to get a dog. I would suggest a $100 re-homing fee or so, depending on what supplies you are including in the adoption (leashes, toys, bed etc..) and if you have gotten him all up to date on his vaccinations and taken him to puppy training.
Good luck on finding your pup a new home!

Q: Do boxer dogs have weak genes?
I’ve recently been looking for a boxer/boxer mix puppy to adopt, and I’ve noticed that all of the “boxer mixes” I’ve encountered don’t seem to look like boxers at all. Is this because boxers have weaker genes than other breeds? Maybe they are recessive compared to others?

I thought for a while that maybe people just want to make a little more money off of breeding mutts, and they think they can do so by calling them boxer mixes, but I’ve also met with a few people who had the parents on site, and one or the other was definitely a full-blooded boxer. These people didn’t want more than a $20 adoption fee for their pups, so you know they weren’t out to make money, but the puppies didn’t look anything like boxers.

What’s the deal?

A: The difference between whether a boxer mix looks like a boxer or the other dog is the dog. If the mum was a boxer, they would have more boxer in them. If the Female was a different breed ( which is more common) then the mix would look more like the other dog. Boxers need to be bred inside their own genus to look fully boxer. A boxer’s genes are not weaker. There’s no such thing as weak or strong genes. It is how they work together to form the body that is how an animal looks. The DNA in the parents is just spliced. That’s pretty much it.

Q: shar pei, boxer, chow , pittbull,—-WHAT KIND OF DOG DO I HAVE?
I’m not good with breeds of dogs, however i’ve been wondering about the kind of dog i have. We got him from a pets adoption at a local store and they informed us that he may be part shar pei and boxer. Others have told us he may have some chow or pitt bull.
The dog is short haired, medium height, brown hair, wrinkled forehead, spotted tungue, and has a docked tail. He is 1 year and 5 months; 45 lb.
Um..If you would like to see some pictures of him just email me and tell me.

A: You can rule out the chow, because they have A LOT of hair. Your friends probably told you it was a chow mix because of the tongue, but a spotted tongue is not exclusive to chows; shar peis have them too. I’d go with what the store told you; they probably have a lot more experience with identifying dogs than your friends do.

Q: Help with Boxer doggy adoption…?
I may be adopting a boxer, 18 month old female. The problem is, she spots a little more than they would like. The organization thankfully is taking all precautions before/if they even let me adopt her at all. She appears to be happy and healthy otherwise.

However, they thought it might be some type of bladder infection. Though I am waiting for final word after X-rays, its possible that she may have a pelvic bladder. I know its also possible that she simply hasn’t had a stable home/diet.

Is there anything I can do for her bladder problems if I do adopt her? Is is something she can grow out of? Is it possible once she is stable with home and same persons, she have a normal cycle? If not, is there anyone who has/is dealing with this sort of problem now with their dog? Thanks!
Sorry, by normal cycle I meant eventually not spotting at all, but going when outside, on walks, etc.

A: A normal cycle of what? If it’s an incontinence problem then the vet can give you medication for it.

Q: i need a boxer dog website!?
ok im trying to talk my parents into getting a dog. my mom loves boxer puppies and she would love one but she would only take him if he was rescued or for adoption. do you have any good boxer/dog websites?

A: Either http://petfinder.com/ or go to your local shelter and see if they have a list of rescue groups that are in your area. If you get lucky you might have a boxer rescue group in your area and you don’t even know it!

Q: Any One Know A Dog For Adoption/Sale In Milon Keynes?
Hello, I’m looking to adopt/buy a dog.
I’m in Milton Keynes.
I’m moving out in May with my Boxer and looking for another one to be with her.
If anyone knows a dog looking for a new home please feel free to let me know!
Thanks.

A: If your looking for a another Boxer you could contact their rescue.
Otherwise you can visit Dogs Trust or RSPCA are the best known centres.
You can see all the dogs available to adopt on Dogs Turst website.

Q: What could the strange redness around my dogs neck be?
I adopted my Boxer/Pitbull mix (now 2 yrs old) from an adoption center a year ago. Upon adopting him, they said he was found tied with a rope to a fence. When I looked at his neck, it appeared healthy, but the hair had been rubbed away from the rope. They mentioned the hair will not grow back. He’s got a lot of hair on his neck that already covers it up, but I can see where it’s been rubbed away when I lift his hair. Anyway, it’s been maybe 2 months, and I’ve noticed irritation along that area, more so in what would be considered the chest area. It’s red and scablike and occasionally I catch him scratching at it, causing it to bleed. It seems like a rash, but I don’t know where he could have gotten it from. He only wears a collar (never a choker chain or a rope) when we go out to the park, or petsmart, or into the backyard. I’m worried, and want it to go away. Any suggestions as to what it might be? And how I might be able to treat it?
“Maybe because he’s a redneck dog” — what kind of comment is that…is that to say that only rednecks own pitbulls? *lol* wow — what is the world coming to?

A: He could have allergies. My dog will itch until she bleeds if I let her. When we leave home we have to put a cone thing around her. We get this hot spot stuff and put on it to help it heal. But it could be something other also. I would have him checked out by his vet. I hope hes ok…

Q: does anybody know any animal adoption centers in Eastern NC?
i want to adopt a puppy not a ful grown dog. i really wanna boxer or some type of bulldog.

A: Hi! i’m not in NC but I sure am happy you asked about an adoption! I’m sure you can go online & look up Animal Rescue Shelters. I bet there’s quite a few in your area. Also, since you want a special breed, i know for a fact that you can request to be put on a list at your local shelters for when the breed comes in. My Son (who is a grown man) always wanted a Great dane all his life. so he went online & looked up Shelters that had a Great dane & he found one,it was about 2 hours away,BUT he drove up there & he got his Great Dane. Now that it’s up to HIM to feed him,I’m so happy for him! LOL Also you can look up “Bower Rescues” or Bull Dog rescues. There’s a bull Dog Rescue in my area & there’s also a Pug Rescue. Which I’m very happy about because I was able to get 2 Pugs for myself & I always wanted them too. So good luck & start a search for your new pet & please consider adopting a puppy or a dog that needs a home. I know they’ll be so happy you did.

*PERFERABLY A BOY AND FULL BREED.THANKS

A: When my old boxer (brindle) had puppies, we were hoping for a show quality red bitch, but in that litter of seven, she only had one red puppy and it was a boy. He was homed with the groundkeeper of an army barracks (where he is spoiled rotten). Anyway, we kept a brindle bitch (that’s her in the picture) in the hope of showing her, but she has grown a bit too big, so has just lived her life as a much loved pet.

Recently we have been lookinmg into perhaps rescuing a boxer and we are going through the same dilemma. At first we thought red, as it was what we wanted originally, but then we though no, go with another brindle. And then we even considered a 3 year old deaf white, but we cannot make up our mind, so we will probably get another breed altogether.

(But a little hint, it is almost always brindle boxers which win the big prizes, so there is obviously something more appealing to this colouration)

I would say to go with whatever you feel immediately drawn to. I myself am more drawn to brindles, the darker the better, but my mum still likes the reds (esp black-masked reds like picture 1)

Q: Anyone good people in the Houston area looking to adopt a male Boxer?
My husband and I adopted a boxer from the houston humane society we just brought him home yesterday and what is normally a semi rough transition so far is one of the easiest on record

but anyway his brother Achilles is still there and he is such a big beautiful boy and full of love he did not come home with us because he did not like our Sheba and that broke our hearts to leave him there

he is housebroken and leashed trained and crate trained and he needs and deserves a good home and of course someone who knows the boxer breed these are very friendly and high energy dogs and they love to play and they are very protective of there families and they are very loyal dogs

Achilles would be a most wonderful asset to any family who has the time and the heart to care for a breed such as this he is a big pure bred dog and he is about 100 pounds

anyone interested in seeing him and reading his profile can log onto houstonhumane.org click adoptions and scroll down to see his picture

A: you should take him,,, they will learn to get along with proper training..

Q: How do I get my skiddish dog to get along with other dog?
We got both dogs yesterday at a rescue ranch adoption fair. The older one is a boxer mix and has obviously been attacked by other dogs. She is about 5 yrs old and very well behaved other than around the other dog.

The younger one is an Aussie mix and around a year old. He is the aggressor and wants all the food. I need to get them to getting along. The older female is obviously scared to death of the other dog and won’t leave my side.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

A: Kathy,

Here is a great article on socialization for adult dogs:

http://www.paw-rescue.org/PAW/PETTIPS/DogTip_SocializationAdultDog.php

I don’t know if you need to get the older dog to be social, more-so than get the Ausi to be less-aggressive. I worked with Caesar Milan (dog whisperer) on my dog, because he was aggressive as well. Basically, taking him to an obedience class, or getting an obedience coach might cost a couple hundred bucks, but you will be MUCH happier. The good news is that dogs don’t have the same feelings as humans. They don’t harbor resentments, and the memory of the past does not haunt them. Any dog of any age can be trained, but you have a tough case. If you want to tackle it on your own, get plenty of reading material. Usually aggressive behavior is a result of anxiety in the pet. maybe read this article:

http://www.animalhealthchannel.com/aggression/index.shtml

Hope this helps, and good luck. You said you got them yesterday, so see if 3 days go by and anything happens before you throw in the towel!!

Q: Can anyone give me a pup or dog for adoption??
I am a dog lover .I want a dog or pup for free adoption. If anyone have a german sheperd ,doberman, boxer, rotweiller, dalmatian, labrador or any other breed for adoption or a reasonable price then pls mail to me jai_yadav01(remove these brackets) @yahoo.com in and around DELHI

A: Hmmm… See I would have to say No… If you can’t afford a good quality dog, then you can’t afford good quality food, you can’t afford to pay the vet, and everything else that comes along with a dog…

You should do more research into what you are looking for, what constitutes a good quality dog, and forget about trying to get a free dog. You get what you pay for.

Check out the shelter, and see if they find you an acceptable candidate for adoption. You won’t find a good quality purebred for free or next to nothing.

Q: dog adoption question??
i am thinking of adopting a big dog that is 1 year old and it is a brindle lab and boxer mix but i have a small maltese and i was wondering if they would get along and if my maltese would ever get used to a a dog almost 3 times bigger than her.

A: Depends on the indivisual dog.
Not the breed if they will get along.

When you go to adopt the dog, try bringing your other dog with you so they can meet and see what they do

Q: Dog section regulars and Boxer aficionados?
Is there anyone is the NE Ohio/Western PA area who is looking for a boxer? I know of a one year-old male boxer that the owner no longer has time for. He is vaccinated,on HW preventative and will be neutered on March 22. He is friendly, very active and yet he is protective. I do not know if she is asking an adoption fee,nor do I know what color the dog is,but I can find out. Prospective adopters will be screened and must have vet references and experience with large, active dogs. I do not want the dog to end up in a shelter,so if you or someone you know is interested,or if you know of a boxer rescue in NE Ohio, could you please email me? Thanks

Legit: Have you ever owned a Boxer? What is your favorite color Boxer? I like fawns.
My brother’s neighbor has a beautiful fawn boxer. I have also known a few brindles and some white ones. My neighbor has a brindle Boxer/ Pit Bull mix that is a very sweet dog,but his head is more Pit-like,while he has the boxer body!

A: I’m in the UK so I’m of no use to anyone but I hope the dog gets his forever home soon! :)

Legit:
I don’t own boxers but I have experience with them. One of my fave boxer’s is my best friend’s boxer Bruno (who shares my birthday!). My father in law has owned boxers for many years also.

My fave pattern would probably have to be the classic brindle and white :)
