Q: Do boxer dogs have weak genes?
I’ve recently been looking for a boxer/boxer mix puppy to adopt, and I’ve noticed that all of the “boxer mixes” I’ve encountered don’t seem to look like boxers at all. Is this because boxers have weaker genes than other breeds? Maybe they are recessive compared to others?
I thought for a while that maybe people just want to make a little more money off of breeding mutts, and they think they can do so by calling them boxer mixes, but I’ve also met with a few people who had the parents on site, and one or the other was definitely a full-blooded boxer. These people didn’t want more than a $20 adoption fee for their pups, so you know they weren’t out to make money, but the puppies didn’t look anything like boxers.
What’s the deal?
A: The difference between whether a boxer mix looks like a boxer or the other dog is the dog. If the mum was a boxer, they would have more boxer in them. If the Female was a different breed ( which is more common) then the mix would look more like the other dog. Boxers need to be bred inside their own genus to look fully boxer. A boxer’s genes are not weaker. There’s no such thing as weak or strong genes. It is how they work together to form the body that is how an animal looks. The DNA in the parents is just spliced. That’s pretty much it.
Q: i need a boxer dog website!?
ok im trying to talk my parents into getting a dog. my mom loves boxer puppies and she would love one but she would only take him if he was rescued or for adoption. do you have any good boxer/dog websites?
A: Either http://petfinder.com/ or go to your local shelter and see if they have a list of rescue groups that are in your area. If you get lucky you might have a boxer rescue group in your area and you don’t even know it!
Q: Anyone have a pitbull or boxer female up for adoption/sale?
I’m searching for a female pitbull or boxer to adopt. Perferably puppy or young age. Must be good with other small dogs.
I’m looking for a female boxer or pit bull to adopt. Around puppy age or young age. Must be good with other small dogs. In the Louisville, Kentucky area.
A: I would go to your local shelter or petfinder.com
Q: HOW DO I FIND THE RIGHT HOME FOR MY BOXER PUP? What is a reasonable adoption fee?
My male boxer is 9-months. He is neutered and great with my two boys (2 & 8). He’s also loving with my other dog. We have to find him a new home due to health issues that started b/c of a dog allergy I didn’t know I had. We made the painful decision of choosing him over our other dog b/c he sheds more and is bigger.
I posted him on craigslist and petfinder and have found some potential candidates. Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated. We want what’s best for him.
Samantha..I appreciate your help but you’re apparently not familiar with Boxers. They are EXTREME shedders for being such a short haired dog.
As far as how much I paid for him…I paid $1,200 plus all his vacs ($80 each visit) and neutering ($375) and Flea and tick medicine ($70 each month). I don’t think I’ll get that…but like i said..my main concern is finding him the right home…not making back what I paid.
A: I would suggest taking him to a boxer rescue organization. They will screen the potential new “parents” before letting someone take him home. If you don’t want to do that, then I suggest you schedule a time to meet with these people and see if they have a good yard for him where he’ll be safe and if they seem like good people. Ask a few questions about how much time they will have for a puppy and how often they will be able to walk him. If you are serious about finding him a good home, then the scumbags who just want a puppy for fun until the excitement wears off, will back off and look for an easier way to get a dog. I would suggest a $100 re-homing fee or so, depending on what supplies you are including in the adoption (leashes, toys, bed etc..) and if you have gotten him all up to date on his vaccinations and taken him to puppy training.
Good luck on finding your pup a new home!

Q: Help with Boxer doggy adoption…?
I may be adopting a boxer, 18 month old female. The problem is, she spots a little more than they would like. The organization thankfully is taking all precautions before/if they even let me adopt her at all. She appears to be happy and healthy otherwise.
However, they thought it might be some type of bladder infection. Though I am waiting for final word after X-rays, its possible that she may have a pelvic bladder. I know its also possible that she simply hasn’t had a stable home/diet.
Is there anything I can do for her bladder problems if I do adopt her? Is is something she can grow out of? Is it possible once she is stable with home and same persons, she have a normal cycle? If not, is there anyone who has/is dealing with this sort of problem now with their dog? Thanks!
Sorry, by normal cycle I meant eventually not spotting at all, but going when outside, on walks, etc.
A: A normal cycle of what? If it’s an incontinence problem then the vet can give you medication for it.
Q: Can anyone give me a pup or dog for adoption??
I am a dog lover .I want a dog or pup for free adoption. If anyone have a german sheperd ,doberman, boxer, rotweiller, dalmatian, labrador or any other breed for adoption or a reasonable price then pls mail to me jai_yadav01(remove these brackets) @yahoo.com in and around DELHI
A: Hmmm… See I would have to say No… If you can’t afford a good quality dog, then you can’t afford good quality food, you can’t afford to pay the vet, and everything else that comes along with a dog…
You should do more research into what you are looking for, what constitutes a good quality dog, and forget about trying to get a free dog. You get what you pay for.
Check out the shelter, and see if they find you an acceptable candidate for adoption. You won’t find a good quality purebred for free or next to nothing.
Q: I just turned 18 yesterday,pregnant,and kicked out What can I do?
I turned 18 yesterday and I told my parents I was 9weeks pregnant and my mom took it well and my dad (he never really ever liked me) told me I need to find somewhere else to live in the next 2 months.
Another problem is I have 3 dogs (boxer, golden retriever, and a cairn terrier) that I have to take with me, no job,my parents didnt want me working while I was in high school. But now I have no job since I found out I was pregnant I have been applying everywhere but no call backs at all.
But I dont know what I can do I wonna keep the baby, I have to move out I have nowhere to go with 3 dogs. I have my high school diploma class of 09 but I was planning on going to PGCC next semester but now that I am pregnant and have to get out my dads house with no job which means no money! what options do I have??
I am not giving my baby up for adoption and abortion is not even entering my mind.
I live in Maryland if that helps
the father wants nothing to do with the baby and I think he said he was going to sign some papers so he has no right to our child so he wont have to pay child support.
Also I will not get rid of my dogs, it would kill me to give them up, volunteering all the hours I have at a shelter they are killing dogs after 3days because so many people are giving their animals up and the shelters are full
A: Your parents (your dad especially) is acting very foolishly. How can any parent claim to love their child, and then kick them out and cut them off the very moment they need the most support? I am appalled at the girl who called you childish for saying your dad didn’t like you. Parents not giving their children the love and respect they deserve is a very REAL issue that happens far too often. Your dad obviously has very little love/respect for you if he’s intent on kicking his pregnant daughter out onto the streets.
Q: Dog section regulars and Boxer aficionados?
Is there anyone is the NE Ohio/Western PA area who is looking for a boxer? I know of a one year-old male boxer that the owner no longer has time for. He is vaccinated,on HW preventative and will be neutered on March 22. He is friendly, very active and yet he is protective. I do not know if she is asking an adoption fee,nor do I know what color the dog is,but I can find out. Prospective adopters will be screened and must have vet references and experience with large, active dogs. I do not want the dog to end up in a shelter,so if you or someone you know is interested,or if you know of a boxer rescue in NE Ohio, could you please email me? Thanks
Legit: Have you ever owned a Boxer? What is your favorite color Boxer? I like fawns.
My brother’s neighbor has a beautiful fawn boxer. I have also known a few brindles and some white ones. My neighbor has a brindle Boxer/ Pit Bull mix that is a very sweet dog,but his head is more Pit-like,while he has the boxer body!
A: I’m in the UK so I’m of no use to anyone but I hope the dog gets his forever home soon!
Legit:
I don’t own boxers but I have experience with them. One of my fave boxer’s is my best friend’s boxer Bruno (who shares my birthday!). My father in law has owned boxers for many years also.
My fave pattern would probably have to be the classic brindle and white
Q: Adopted a puppy expecting it to be a small dog and she got big, had to move. Has this happened to anyone else?
We were looking for a small dog under 15lbs because the weight limit at our apartment was 15lbs
We adopted a dog a local animal rescue awhile back she was adopted to us as a Chihuahua/Jack Russell Terrier mix and that is what her adoption paperwork says. She was one of the many dogs suggested when we told the rescue what we were looking for. We were working actually with the head of the rescue. She said this dog wouldn’t be more than 12-14lbs full grown.
Boy was she wrong. We took her home and everything was great. She was a fantastic puppy. We then took her to get spayed and the vet wouldn’t do it. He said this dog is not 5 months old, she is more like 10-11 weeks old and he won’t spay a puppy before 5 months. Well it wasn’t long that she passed the weight limit at our apartment and was still growing. We were open and honest with the apartment that hey she was still growing is there anyway we can stay. They said no we can’t renew with the dog there but we can stay until our lease is up. Fair enough (even though all the staff members that lived on property had big dogs, boxers, labs, etc). So we moved. Well now she is full grown, very muscular and comes in between 25 and 30lbs.
We are also under the impression that she is not a Jack Russell Terrier/Chihuahua mix but a Staffordshire Bull Terrier mix. She is a beautiful fawn color though. Which brings a lot more problems lots of places won’t rent to you if you have a SBT or a dog that resembles an SBT.
When asked what she is we just say whats on the papers, or call her a Terrier mix, or a mutt.
But has anyone ever adopted a dog under the assumption it was a going to be a small dog and had to move, or worse the dog turns out to most likely be on the top 10 list of americas most hated breeds?
We love our dog and would never trade her she is absolutely the best dog we could ever ask for. But has this happened to anyone else?
Please share
Legit: Is innova a good food for a Staffordshire Bull Terrier
Best dog ever she is CGC certified and loves obedience. We enroll her in classes sometimes just because she loves to do
They said they saw the mother before she was put down. But they only pulled the puppies right before they were to be put down, I never saw the mother though
Asfaras renting we tell them whats on the adoption papers. This all happened afew years ago, we arelooking to buy a house now and maybe add a purebred SBT to the family
all worked out theway it wasmeant to i guess sorry for typing errors I’m using one hand
A: I haven’t had the experience personally, however, with mixes you can never really tell how big they are going to be. The way to get around any breed haters would be to make sure that she was social and well trained. I would just call her a terrier mix.
Q: Help with out of control boxer female puppy. Urgent.?
My female boxer puppy is 9 months old. We have put her in socialization aka puppy classes. We havent seen any amazing results. We use the can to try to correct her but it doesnt work. All she does is run around. She actually jumped on my laptop and her paws took out a key on the keyboard. All she ever does is jump on me and bite me. We know boxers are high energy dogs but she is getting out of hand. I m at a loss of what i should do. I play with her but nothing tires her out. I take her on short walks but no result. Im at a loss. Im worried that if my family and I cant get this under control we may have to put her up for adoption and I really want to keep her. I need serious help please.
New edit. She knows how to sit, stay, and that nature. She just doesnt listen :/
i meant no instead of can. dunno how i wrote that sorry.
A: WOW! How are you correcting her? Instead of “No!” or “Stop” try a dog-like growl! That’s something she’ll understand, because it’s her language. The shake can can work if used properly. It has to be immediate, and the added growl will help. Growl in warning, if she stops, praise her, if she keeps doing it, growl and toss the can (toward, not at her). We actually had to pin one of my puppies to the ground when she was new. (again, with the growled warning first) You do this by gently, but firmly making her lay on her side and holding her feet with one hand and her muzzle to the ground with the other until she stops struggling, then wait a few seconds and quietly and calmly let her up. Make sure you praise her every time she’s being good (like, if you say “Sit” and she sits, make a big deal about it right away). You need immediate reaction to good and bad behaviors, because if you wait, she won’t know why you are praising or correcting her. Socialization is a very good thing, so don’t give up on that, but make sure she knows when it’s time to play, and when it’s time to work. Get a training collar (make sure your obedience instructor or vet shows you how to put it on properly, or you could hurt her. Don’t necessarily take the pet store employee’s word for it, because 9 times out of 10, they’ve had no real training on that kind of thing), and use it whenever you’re working. When it’s play time, take off the training collar and let her have fun, but never let her play on the training collar! This way, she’ll learn that the training collar means it’s time to work. Patience, persistence, practice and praise are the four words you need to keep in mind when training, and always end a training session positively (if she got sit right, but can’t get “down,” go back to “sit” and praise her for doing it right before finishing the session, that way, it will be a positive experience her, and she’ll work harder next time).
I might recommend Bark Busters to you. They really can work wonders! Also, my animal behavior prof had us all read Don’t Shoot the Dog by Karen Pryor. It’s one of the most highly regarded training books out there, and I recommend it to everyone I know who has or is getting a dog and wants a well-mannered pooch!
If you have any questions, feel free to ask me!
Q: How do you take care of a run away dog? ?
okay, I have a dog Mason (boxer) and he runs away all the time and soon we might put him up for adoption cause it takes 100$ every time to get him out of the pound and we don’t have that kind of money.
so I need suggestions fast please!!
A: my dog did that. but, why does your dog go to the pound? if your dog just keeps getting caught by neighbors who don’t know it’s your dog, you could try informing them that your dog tends to run away and if they see him could they givee you a call. even if you decide to pay 10 dollars when the neighbors bring him back, it’s less than 100. my neighbors brought mine back for free all the time. you can also put a tag on him with your phone number so if he gets found farther away, whoever finds him can call you and tell you.
next, your dog probably runs away because either he doesn’t get enough exercise or he wants to know what’s outside his yard. try to take him for a walk of your entire street/neighborhood every day. if you can jog, even better. he’ll use up more of his energy and be more content to sit at home.
another option, if there’s a room that leads to the door he escapes from or any other good place, put up a baby gate. if he can’t reach the door he can’t run off. when you take him out, circle the leash through your belt loop so he doesn’t pull it out of your hand and use a harness instead of a collar so he doesn’t just pull out of it.
if he does run off, have a slice of cheese or lunch meat handy. just rip off a piece and toss it so he sees it and then back off. he’ll see the safe treat and go for it. when he gets that one, show him what’s in your hand and toss another piece.eventually he’ll get close enough to get the last piece from you and you can grab his collar. give him the rest anyway and be really excited. tell him he’s a good boy for coming back. he’ll learn not to run so far and to stay in sight waiting for his treat if he does run off.
another tactic we used for my dog was to just turn the car on. she comes straight back and hops in becuase she loves car rides. we just go for a two minute drive up and down my street, but it’s good enough to keep her happy. now when she runs away, she literally goes across the street and just waits for me to get the car keys or food.
hope these help you with your dog.
Q: Hello everyone!?
Hello everyone!
My name is Janelle. My husband and I have been waiting to adopt for almost two years from Catholic Social Services in Cincinnati, Ohio. I was adopted from CSS in Toledo, Ohio. We are college educated with good jobs that would allow us to not use Child Care during the day. We have a great home in a suburban cul-de-sac. We have 2 dogs, boxers that love children. Please…if you know anyone that is looking for a loving couple to have an open adoption with, provide them with our information.

Q: Anyone good people in the Houston area looking to adopt a male Boxer?
My husband and I adopted a boxer from the houston humane society we just brought him home yesterday and what is normally a semi rough transition so far is one of the easiest on record
but anyway his brother Achilles is still there and he is such a big beautiful boy and full of love he did not come home with us because he did not like our Sheba and that broke our hearts to leave him there
he is housebroken and leashed trained and crate trained and he needs and deserves a good home and of course someone who knows the boxer breed these are very friendly and high energy dogs and they love to play and they are very protective of there families and they are very loyal dogs
Achilles would be a most wonderful asset to any family who has the time and the heart to care for a breed such as this he is a big pure bred dog and he is about 100 pounds
anyone interested in seeing him and reading his profile can log onto houstonhumane.org click adoptions and scroll down to see his picture
A: you should take him,,, they will learn to get along with proper training..
Q: I want to get a boxer, but I have a smaller dog.
I am interested in getting a boxer. I found one that is up for adoption and it is 8 weeks old. I have a neutered female cockapoo that is 5 years old, and she weighs 13 pounds. I am wondering if a boxer (male or female) would be a good companion for her. If a boxer isn’t, any suggestions? I like the size of a boxer.
A: I think if you grow the boxer up around your other dog, they should be fine together. I think you should get a male.
=D
I have a pekingese Poodle mix and a German Shepperd mix, and they get along real well.
