Q: Bulldog…..?
Ok i love american bulldogs but they might be too big for me and i like english bulldogs but they are too small. Is there any type of bulldog that is in between those 2 sizes?
A: These are pretty rare, they are Olde English Bulldogges. I think they are absolutely adorable. But they require an experience owner. I have seen a few come through animal shelters.

I actually want to adopt this one, but I just don’t have the room for 2 dogs right now.

And I know you know this, but you can also consider adopting an American Pit Bull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier, or a Boxer.
Q: bulldog????????????????????
how big do american bulldogs grow too
will they grow as big if they r a cross with an english bulldog?
A: I have an American Bulldog who is 14 months old and he is 115 pounds. I have heard of some getting to 150 pounds and as low as 70 pounds. It all depends on the parent and how big they are. If it is a cross between an English it will not get so big…maybe around 85 pounds.
Q: How can i feed my bulldog to help her gain weight?
My bulldog Bertha is 13months old and she is not as big as she should be for a bulldog, what are some good home reciepes that i can make her or some good dog food that you would recommend?
A: I have to agree with the other poster that gaining her weight will only shorten her life.. She is only 13 months, she will still grow until shes about 2 or so. Also, it could depend on how big she was at birth, when my Bulldog pups were born last year, I have one who is just the runt period! She only weighed in at about 8 ozs, when born and I fought for her life to keep her alive. Today she is roughly about 48-50 lbs, but she is still way smaller than her brother and sister, she is only about 8 inches high from her shoulder to the floor, so she is very stout and a complete shorty.. I have to watch her weight gaining very closely because she will have a harder time breathing if any heavier..
Get your pup on a good quality food, Blue Buffalo is excellant if you only have one to feed instead of 5 like me..
below is a pic of Emma the day she was born at 8 oz. she is the one of the very left brindle and white..

Q: What do you mix a bulldog with to keep it small?
What is a breed you could mix a bulldog with that keeps it looking like a bulldog and at the same time keeps it puppy size? Or at least smaller than it’s normal size?
A: A boston bulldog, pug, or a frenchie would work. You want the short nose and body with the dwarf leg appearance.
Q: When do the english bulldog’s teeth start to protrude from there bottom jaw?
We have a english bulldog and she is 5 months old! When will her teeth show out the bottom as the older ones i see?
A: I don’t recall when my english bulldog’s teeth came through but it should be soon.
Just make sure you don’t let your english bulldog near a pool or pond because my english bulldog fell in my pool 3 weeks ago when we let him out to the bathroom in the morning and when we went to let him in, he was drowned in the pool
English bulldogs can’t swim, they sink to the bottom.
Q: how old does a male bulldog have to be before he is able to start breeding?
I had a lady contact me about my bulldog to breed with females. He is only 10 months old.
A: About a year old is the right age. What are you getting out of this…..a pick of the litter…..a stud fee. Get your dog Neutered its the best for you and your dog. Breeding Bulldogs is no easy task. Most of them have to have a C-section because of the size of the puppies heads. Get him Neutured.
Q: How do I get my bulldog into show business?
Looking for avenues to get a talented and attractive 80 lbs English bulldog into Ads or on screen. Any GOOD suggestions. Also stud service available.
A: Do a search on animal actor agency model and similar terms, you should come up with some agencies that can help you. Your dog needs to be very well-trained and socialized and able to work under stressful situations.
This is not the place to advertise stud-services, advertising is not allowed here. And any prospective user would want to know a whole heck of a lot more about him.
Q: How do I get my bulldog puppy to exercise?
I have a 2 month old english bulldog puppy. He is a slightly overweight and sleeps for most of the day. We let him run around, he has lots of toys to play with but he usually only plays for a while, sits there and then falls asleep.
A: Sounds like usual puppy behavior. They are quite pudgy looking when they are this age but most of it is wrinkles, loose skin. Puppies should have round bellies. Puppies this age will play for a half hour and then sleep 2 hours. This is what they do. Very simliar to a newborn baby. And with their little naughty puppy behavior, those nap times will be sooooooo enjoyed by you. If you are overly concerned bring this up to your pup at next vet appointment. I’m sure its just a puppy being a puppy. Cherish it now…they dont stay pups for long!
Q: How old does a French Bulldog puppy have to be to take him home?
I’m waiting for my French Bulldog puppy to get a little older before I actually take him home. He is almost four weeks old, and I want to know when I should take him home. The breeder says 7.5 weeks, but I’ve heard it is okay at 6 weeks. But, I want the best for the puppy.
A: Minimum – 8 weeks!!!
Better is 12 weeks. The time between 8 & 12 week is a good time for the puppy to be socializing with his littermates, and owners. His immune system is developing, and by 12 weeks he can have had all his puppy shots. He is also able to make a smoother transition to a Loving Forever Home. Be patient, and best of luck to you and your new Frenchie.
They are awesome little dogs.
Q: How long should my american bulldog be fed puppy food?
I own a 1 year old american bulldog mix. She just turned a year old on Dec. 1st. Should she stay on puppy food or should she start adult food. She weighs 50.3 pounds and I think she is done growing. I was told that some dogs have to stay on puppy food for two years.
A: Dogs usually stop growing at the age of 2 BUT I would start the adult food. Puppy food should be fed for the first year as you have done and adult food there after until a senior. Puppy food is loaded with fat and protein to promote growth and weight gain. This is what the pup needs in the beginning but after that the food runs the risk of making him obese.
Q: How much would an English Bulldog cost from a breeder with its shots and everything?
I want to get an English Bulldog in Maine and I don’t know how much it would cost from a breeder.
A: If you go to a reputable and responsible breeder (which you should since you don’t want to support backyard breeders) depending whether you want pet or show quality, you will most likely be paying in the high thousands. I’d say about 2000+
But if you rescue a English Bulldog, not only will you pay considerably less, but you’ll be saving a life. You can research rescues in your area and if it MUST be a purebred look into breed specific rescues. A good place to start is http://www.petfinder.com/
Here you can look up rescues by breed and find any dog, any age in your area
Good Luck

Q: How do I teach my rescued bulldog not to ruffle thru the trashcan?
We have just adopted a English bulldog and have a few behavioral problems. Most I can work out myself, but we can’t leave him alone in the kitchen because he tips over the trashcan and makes a huge mess and he eats things he should not be eating.
A: My mom rescued a dog that loved the garbage can. When we went to obedience school we asked our trainer what to do. She recommended rubbing vicks or bengay around the top of the bag. This smell is very strong to dogs and they don’t like it. This deters them from getting in the can. You have to remember to do this every day. Eventually the dog will not be interested in the garbage can b/c he will only remember the bad smell.
Q: How do I get my English Bulldog to stop biting?
My grandparents just got an 8 week old English Bulldog. Ever since we took him home he kept snapping and biting us. We’ve tried to tell him no but he is unresponsive. Now my grandmother has bruises on her feet from his bites. We know that its typical because he is teething and it’s his breed, but how do we stop it in the meantime?
A: He is not teething yet. Just like babies this is his only way of tasting, knowing, and feeling the world around him. They do not bite as a breed. What I suggest is to get bitter apple from the pet store, spray it in his mouth and say NO, then put what is good for him to chew in his mouth. Once he does this praise him. He is eight weeks and you guys are now his litter mates so it may take some time. Another thing I do is when they bite put your thumb in his mouth with the rest of your hand below it and pinch (not hard) mostly clench and say no. This causes the chin to go down and they don’t like it and will not hurt you. I would also crate him as he needs to know boundaries. If you don’t crate at least have a Naughty space for him. When he is about 4 months he will go through teething then everything will be fair game. I breed them and sometime they are devils. Starting young will help to deter this. Good luck and fun lovin’. They are brachialcephalic never hit in the face, never hit a dog period! Nor a kid for that matter they don’t learn only hate.
Q: How do I get my American Bulldog Puppy to stop chasing my cat?
I have an 8 week old female american bulldog puppy who loves my cat. She thinks its another puppy to play with. I do not want my puppy to think its ok to chase the cat. I have tried having her on a leash when the cat is walking around and she will do great but the second that leash is off, she runs for the cat and won’t listen. Any advice would be great!
A: I had to laugh when I read Kirsten’s answer. This really is so typical, especially of the American Bulldog. This past weekend, my 10 month male discovered my daughter’s cat while we were visiting. He’s usually pretty good about staying close by, but one look at the cat, his selective hearing clicked off and the chase was on. It was a playful chase, which was a relief to me, but the frustration of trying to catch him was still there.
My daughter has an 8 week old female that we just got for my granddaughter for her birthday. She’s had some of the same problems between the puppy and the cat that you are experiencing. I recommended the drag to her and she’s using the ah-ah method as well. For some reason, the ah-ah really gets the attention of the ABDs when it’s used with consistency. Even in this past weekend’s chase, it got me a look at least. She’s been using the method for a week now and it’s paying off. The puppy will leave the cat alone for at least a few minutes.
The key is consistency and timing. You have to catch the puppy at it’s first sign of interest in the cat. That first glance in the cat’s direction is crucial.
Enjoy your puppy. You’ll never regret your decision to share your life with an American Bulldog.
Q: How should I ship a French bulldog during the summer?
I need to ship my french bulldog across the country this summer, but a lot of the airlines will not fly stub-nosed breeds because of the heat. Also I’m looking for an inexpensive option. Any suggestions?
A: The airlines are correct, its just too hot. I have a friend that runs a puppy delivery and travels all over the country. He is just as cheap, or cheaper than the airlines and gives them personal attention. His site is….. www.puppyexpressdelivery.com
I’ve personally dealt with this man, and I vouch for him. He even gives them an airconditioner and a flat screen tv to listen to. Lol.
