Q: french bulldog?
how much would a french bulldog puppy cost? i’ve wanted one forever

A: Some of these people are idiots. I’ve owned Frenchies before, and in fact, I have one now. They are not huge, anything over 28lbs can’t be registered. No, they are not headstrong and hard to housebreak. My Frenchie I have now was the easiest dog to potty train that I’ve ever owned. In fact, Frenchies love to please their owners and are known as “the little clowns” for a reason. Yes, in the States they will cost you upwards of $1500. But you need to consider that the amount of cost is just the beginning. They are prone to skin and respiratory problems like any bulldog breed. You can expect to have higher vet bills than with other breeds. They do need exercise, but be careful of the heat. With a sweater on, my Frenchie loves the snow. You need to make sure that you can afford to feed them “the good food”, like Iams, Eukanuba, Science Diet, or any of the Natural Dog Foods. Good luck. If you can afford it and are willing to give proper care, a French Bulldog will be the best dog you have ever owned.

Q: French bulldog??
I have a 6 month old french bulldog. We are going to Japan and I dont think we are going to take her. I am willing to sell her for atleast half of the price. What should I do?
alot of friends and family would take her but when we come back to the states in 3 years i would want her back… but i couldnt do that if she has been living with someone else for 3 years. So if it were someone I dont know(but a good home) would be better!

A: She sure is CUTE!! Try advertizing her online. Or do you have any friends that want a dog? Best wishes:)

Q: French Bulldog!!!!?
I have been in search of a french bulldog of my very own for about two years now and was hoping someone could help me! I have an excellent home for a new family member and do not work! If you know of someone who needs an excellent forever home for there frenchie in southern California please let me now I would be so deaply greatful! I am by NO means a kennel and I do not show my dogs either! I would just contact a breeder but I feel like adopting would be so much more beneficial and I have already tried most all of the adoption agencies but they are taking forever to get back to me!!! I’ve already waited two years please help!!!! Thanx

A: The only thing I can add is that the rescue organizations are very careful about selecting permanent homes for the dogs that have been surrendered, and it’s a painstaking process to sift through the applicants for each and every dog… Keep checking… Apply for the dogs that genuinely sound like they would benefit from living with you, and “sell yourself”… You have to write the organization and tell them why you would make an ideal companion to a Frenchie…

In the meantime, the other thing you can do is to contact the actual breeders… Many place their retirees, or the dogs that they’ve removed from their breeding programs up for adoption… These dogs tend to be more socialized and somewhat house-broken and will appreciate a leisurely life of being pampered and adored… In rare cases they have older puppies that were originally kept as show prospects and just didn’t meet expectations, so they also place these dogs in permanent adoptive homes…

Yes, adoption is beneficial, but the more you learn about the breed and the more you tell the rescue organizations about what a great home you can provide, the better chances you’ll stand of being selected…

Best wishes in your endeavors.

Q: How do I find French Bulldog breeder in Eastern canada, and is it wrong to ship dogs?
I am looking for a puppy French bulldog to buy and I can’t seem to find any breeders in or around my area. I was wondering if it would be morally wrong to buy a pup from somewhere in the US and ship it to Montreal. I heard that some puppies die in the cargo area of planes because it gets very cold. Does anyone know if it’s safe to ship puppies and if there are any French Bulldog breeders in my area?
Thanks.

A: Call your provincial kennel club. Many of them have websites listing breeders.

Later

I found a breeder in New Brunswick, if you would like to contact me.

Q: How old does a French Bulldog puppy have to be to take him home?
I’m waiting for my French Bulldog puppy to get a little older before I actually take him home. He is almost four weeks old, and I want to know when I should take him home. The breeder says 7.5 weeks, but I’ve heard it is okay at 6 weeks. But, I want the best for the puppy.

A: Minimum – 8 weeks!!!

Better is 12 weeks. The time between 8 & 12 week is a good time for the puppy to be socializing with his littermates, and owners. His immune system is developing, and by 12 weeks he can have had all his puppy shots. He is also able to make a smoother transition to a Loving Forever Home. Be patient, and best of luck to you and your new Frenchie.

They are awesome little dogs.

Q: How should I ship a French bulldog during the summer?
I need to ship my french bulldog across the country this summer, but a lot of the airlines will not fly stub-nosed breeds because of the heat. Also I’m looking for an inexpensive option. Any suggestions?

A: The airlines are correct, its just too hot. I have a friend that runs a puppy delivery and travels all over the country. He is just as cheap, or cheaper than the airlines and gives them personal attention. His site is….. www.puppyexpressdelivery.com

I’ve personally dealt with this man, and I vouch for him. He even gives them an airconditioner and a flat screen tv to listen to. Lol.

Q: My French Bulldog has the worst gas ever. Does anyone else have this problem with their bulldog?
Is there anything to give my French Bulldog to combat his gas problem. And if you have a French Bulldog, what kind of food do you feed him or her. We feed ours Blue Buffalo, and before that ukanuba.

A: Bulldogs and boxers share a common physical feature; a shorter colon which produces more gas build-up. My boxers were pee-u stinky! Try switching to a higher grade (human grade) food. That will help.

Q: How to find a good prospective French Bulldog puppy buyer?
I have recently had a litter of 6 vibrant, healthy and plump little French Bulldog puppies after mating my Ellie (3 years old) to E-Jay (1 year 5 months old). This was my first litter of puppies ever. My dogs weren’t tested for anything and aren’t Champions but Ellie and Kaylie’s parents are both AKC Champs (they are sisters) and E-Jay has a Grand Champion father. Also, all their generations were tested for genetics.

I have NO idea how to find a good, worthy puppy buyer for all my puppies. I would be willing to keep a few but I really want to sell them all. Any suggestions?

After confirming with my vet, there are 3 males and 3 females in her litter – all black and white.

I don’t want any of my puppies going to bad, unworthy homes so how can I find a good owner for them all? I have set the price at $1700 for females and $1300 for males but this may change as they grow. They are AKC registered, vet checked, wormed, microchipped and are currently a week old.

Thanks.
Oh and don’t worry. I am not selling them yet, I just want to take deposits so I have homes lined up when they are older. I plan to sell them after they are 9 weeks old.

Basically all I want is the new puppy buyer to be worthy, loving, able to afford and care for a puppy forever. They must know things about the breed and must be willing to fix their pups before 12 months old unless I decide that they can breed them.

A: PLEASE make sure you include a contract to Spay or Neuter the dog with every one you sell… not that I think you should’ve been allowed to breed your Frenchies anyway…….. Your French Bulldogs don’t have the necessary requirements to be bred and could potentially contaminate the gene pool with health and personality problems.

Also make sure that you let any buyer know the health risks that Frenchies have– they often have skin allergies and horrible gas depending on what they eat. They snore loudly and can’t handle the heat. They cannot handle lots of exercise (like jogging). They’re probably one of the most troublesome breeds– but their beauty and personalities make up for their heath problems.

PS. I don’t believe that they’re AKC registered… unless you did it at petsmart or something…..

Q: How much does a french bulldog puppy cost?
I’m trying to buy a French Bulldog. What should I know about one and where can I get a good one in the Philadelphia area?

A: http://www.frenchbulldogclub.org/ht/d/sp/i/229/pid/229 That should help to find a breeder in your area. As for prices, you’re probably looking at around $1000 or somewhere in the area. Unless of course you go through rescue, but it’ll most likely be an adult. Just don’t buy from a pet store, as you’ll only be supporting puppy mills.

Q: How old was your french bulldog before he/she used the stairs?
I have a 4 month old French bulldog. I was wondering if any other owners could tell me how old their Frenchie was when they started climbing up and going down the stairs.
He’s tall enough to go up them now, but he’s still too short to go down without hurting himself. Is there any reason I should be worried about him using the stairs? I know that these dogs have a lot of hip/leg health issues.

A: My 5 month old frenchie just started to go down stairs 2 weeks ago. She would go up, but not down. I would put her paws on the first step and call her down, she eventually got it! I know that jumping and climbing should be limited, but I think its important for her to be able to get around on her own. The only way for her to get outside, is down stairs. She hops down slowly, this seems to stop her chest from touching the stairs.
Good luck

Q: How do I stop my french bulldog from pulling on the leash?
My french bulldog pulls to the point of strangling herself. I’ve tried stopping and making her sit, yanking the leash and going the other direction until she calms down. Nothing works. Help

A: this is a theory: every time your dog tries to gain control on the leash, spray a little water at it. you can buy a water sprayer to help you or a watering can will work too. soon, your dog will get the message. hope this helps : )

Q: How do I make blue french bulldog?
I want to know how a blue/grey french bulldog is created. Is the only way to do it is to have 2 blue frenchies?

A: All kinds of coat genetics determine coat color. Having two blue dogs isn’t the only way to obtain blue puppies, nor is having two blue parents a guarantee that you’ll get blue puppies. Genetics are funny like that.

What you shouldn’t be doing is thinking about making any puppies yourself based on the clear lack of knowledge you have about the process. Wanting blue puppies is never an acceptable reason to breed. If you’re interested in breeding dogs sometime in the future, contact the Frenchie parent club, ask for a mentor and get clued up. It takes years of learning and education before you can consider yourself capable of breeding. Along the course of those years, you’ll learn all about genetics and be able to explain it until you are ‘blue’ in the face: http://www.frenchbulldogclub.org/

Q: What are good names for a french bulldog?

A: xavier aha

Q: Can a French Bulldog survive in a hot country?
I currently reside in England and am looking to get a french bulldog pup in the summer. However in the next few years, once I finish my studies I may move to India (or another hot country) and of course will want to take my dog wherever I go. I read somewhere that short snouted dogs cannot survive in hot countries. Is this true? I love the french bulldog but I wouldn’t want it to go through hell in a hot country where it can’t breath! To what extent is the hot weather bad for bulldogs?

A: Most dogs from England would have trouble coping with the heat in India, but yes I think a French Bulldog would not be able to cope as well as some others. I have a friend in America who has them (and lovely dogs they are too) – she lives in one of the hot muggy parts of the country and flatly refuses to let them out of the airconditioned house until sunset because of the heat… they have a litter tray!

I would question your desire to take a dog travelling with you abroad. In India dogs are often treated with great suspicion and you might find that your trip is marred by you having one, quite apart from all the things you won’t be able to visit etc because you can’t leave the dog, let alone all the fuss over border controls etc.

Q: What is the name of an English and French Bulldog mix?
I have looked all over and cant find an answer. I know a Pug and English Bulldog mix is a Miniature Bulldog, but what about an English Bulldog and French Bulldog? Thanks ahead of time!

A: That is called a mutt.

Any special “names” for these mixbreeds are just designer labels, often used as marketing ploys. No matter what you call the dog, it’ll still be a mutt.
