Q: How to care for a chihuahua-dachshund mix puppy?
I have a male black chihuahua-dachshund mix puppy that is 3 and 1/2 weeks old, and I need to know how to take care of it. I need to know what kind of food to feed it, when to take it to the vet, etc.
The puppy’s mother is still around, and has not been weaned.
And I DID NOT take the puppy away from his mother.

A: get ready for some butt head answers from mean people on here.
call your vet. go to the pet store and purchase esbilac milk replacement and a bottle.
buy a good puppy food.
if the puppy has teeth he can start eating puppy food.

Q: Where do you buy dachshund mix puppies in South East Michigan?
I’m looking for a mixed dachshund puppy litter in my area. Are there any good websites to find affordable puppies? My area code is 49068. We’d like to find puppies/a breeder in that general area.

A: Go to pet finder, it helps, or look up “daschund puppies, 49068 MI” and see what comes up. Also look for a shelter.

Q: how much is a Lhasa Apso and dachshund mix?
just wondering if anyone knows how much a lhasa apso and dachshund mix would be ?
seriously for those of u that dnt have anything nice to say dnt bother commenting and thank you to all of you that have answered

Q: My chihuahua/dachshund mix dog keeps vomiting in small amounts and I don’t know what to do?
I am very careful with what I feed her. I found a food that she’s been eating just fine and she just recently started this again. I’m scared for her because when she had this really bad as a puppy she nearly died. Her stomach and intestines were really swollen. Since then she eats very healthy and I’m at a loss. The vomit almost looks like yellow stomach acid, not to be gross, but this might help with answers.

A: Feed your dog a bland diet of white rice and Gerber Step 2 chicken sticks for a while. See if that upsets her stomach. She may just have an extremely sensitive stomach. Switching diet may soothe it breifly but eventually it acts up again. But try this and if it works then talk to your vet about a special diet for her.

Q: What is the Max Weight for a Chiweenie Dog (Chihuahua/Dachshund Mix)?
And don’t tell me there is no such breed, it’s a mix, I know that. Duh. I just want to know what the max weight is for them. I just adopted mine and he’s around three months old and weighs 3.5 pounds.

A: Well it depends on how large the mother an father were but estimated it would be 7-12 lbs full grown any more q’s feel free to e-mail me

Q: How big is a Labrador/Dachshund mix supposed to get?
I have a 11 week old puppy.

A: As Shannon said, it is impossible to tell. It might be as big as a regular Labrador. It might not. Indeed, genetics can be so crazy that it isn’t impossible for the dog to be bigger than a standard labrador (unlikely, though).

Q: Bad Dog Breath, Our Chihuahua Dachshund Mix has really stinky breath, has had it for years! Eats good, happy ?
We also have a Chihuahua Dachshund Mix. She is 7 years old and has had REALLY bad breath for a long time. She used to eat badly (table scraps) but now eats nothing but good dog food. Her breath is BAD and has been bad. Is there something wrong with her internally perhaps? What is best to do, brush her teeth (that could be hard to do) ?

A: You are of the wrong impression that dog bad breath is primarily caused by what your dog eats and it is her stomach that causes bad breath. Dog bad breath is primarily caused by bacteria that grow on the top of the tongue, just like in humans. So, to cure your dog’s bad breath this bacteria needs to be cleaned off, just like in humans. I have witnessed a Vet cleaning a dog’s tongue with OraBrush tongue cleaner with excellent success. To cure your bad breath you should brush your teeth and then clean your tongue. To cure your dog’s bad breath you should brush her teeth and then clean her tongue. I have used OraBrush for over 6 months with great success. OraBrush was developed for humans but it can also be used on dogs. Their website is below.

Q: My 14 year old dachshund mix is deaf and pees everywhere. Does anyone have any advice?
The vet said there was nothing wrong with his kidneys. He checked the urine off his office floor.

A: If he is otherwise healthy (aside from being old), it’s just something that you have to live with when you have an old dog.

Keep him confined to places that are easily cleaned (kitchen with linoleum floor or the like) and remember to never, ever correct him for his leaky bladder, it’s not his fault.

If you want him to have access to areas of the house where there is carpet or other flooring (or bedding) not easily cleaned, consider a belly band (http://www.dachshundsdressedforshow.com/dog-belly-band-male.html).

Q: my dog is a five year old dachshund/terrier mix and she just pooped and it was diarrhea and bright green like?
my dog is a five year old dachshund/terrier mix and she just pooped and it was diarrhea and bright green like she swallowed a bottle of green dye. she hasnt eaten or gotten into anything that would discolor her stool like that.. what could this mean?

A: Your dog probablay at some grass. My fiances parents dog eat grass and sometimes have green poop. I think she will be fine. If you are concerned call your vet and ask them.

Q: How do I introduce my mini dachshund puppy to lab mix dog?
I am traveling home with my puppy dachshund to my parent’s house that has a lab mix dog. Our lab mix dog is very loving but not towards other dogs, she has even gotten in fights with neighborhood dogs, but eventually becomes submissive. My puppy is very sociable and he is very playful and I fear my lab mix attacking the puppy since she is teriotorial. Should we just keep them apart or attemp to introduce them?

A: You should introduce them in a neutral place, one that your lab won’t consider ‘her territory’, maybe the dog park or another park. You could introduce them to one another at your house on opposite sides of a baby gate. This would prevent your dog from attacking the doxi but still allow them to interact with each other. Once they are getting along through the baby gate, you can take it away and let them play together. just make sure you supervise them the whole time.

Q: Dog experts: What breed is this? It’s a “dachshund mix” but I can’t figure out what it’s mixed with!
I’ve never seen a daschund this color. It’s only 12 weeks old so it’s tough to say how big it will get but right now it’s the size of those teacup-dogs. Its legs are longer than a daschund. Any ideas?

A: Wow that could be almost mixed with anything from Jack russell to sheppard

Q: Where can i adopt basset hound/dachshund mix dog?
I had one but my mom got rid of her when i was a kid… we were best friends too. i would like to get another dog like this when i move out in two years(when im 18). This means alot to me.

A: Petfinder is your best bet, but be aware that you cannot predict how a mixed breed will turn out, even in the same litter the pups can be quite different.

Not to say that you won’t get a good dog, but don’t count on it being like the one you had before.

Q: How long should you walk a dachshund/yorkie mix?
She is strictly half and half has a feature of both dogs. Yorkie hair, face, height. Dachshund body, ears although slightly smaller. weighs 5 pounds does not gain weight on high calorie dog food. energy level sleeps all day but hyper when ready to play.
thanks for the help.

A: Well it is best to have a slow stroll that is calm (no pulling or spazzing from the dog) for at least 45 min. This will help them with their growth and they will be more disciplined and will mind more. However, it really depends. If you are walking the dog just so it should go to the bathroom like before work, it really doesn’t matter how long as long as it goes and as long as it gets its exercise later. With smaller dogs its okay to shave a good 15-20 minutes off that 45. So really 20 minutes is fine, i know that’s hard ( i have a chihuahua) but it needs to be done. The more they sit around, whether they are getting fat or not, their muscles are deteriorating and dissolving, their discipline worsens and your bond with the animal is lessened. If you do not have the energy to just walk for 20 minutes, try a dog park where the dog can run around with others while you sit. You can also trying jogging for 10-15 minutes, ride a bike with them by your side (don’t roll over your little one, better for bigger dogs) or ride roller blades this way. These alternatives will give the same or more exercises in a short amount of time, and they’re fun.

Q: How big will a dachshund/blue heeler mix get?
I just got a Dachshund/ Blue Heeler mix from the animal shelter. He seems to be shaped like a Dachshund from what I can tell and his paws dont seem very big. Anyone have any idea of how big he will get.
His name is Baxter and here are some pics if anyone wants to see him.

A: I have found that most dogs by 14-16 weeks old will at least double their size again. I agree with the other post your little dog doesnt appear to have much blue heeler – usually they leave blue spots in the white marked areas especially on the feet. He is also very red for a dachshund – poss kelpie mix? Anyway fair bet he wont get past knee height! Have fun.

Q: I have a dachshund mix. I’m gonna bring her to my FIL’s to breed w/ their German Shepherd. Will pups be cute?
I don’t want my doggy to die! I’ll keep her away from their german shepherd pup. I guess we’ll have to wait a few weeks to go running.

I’m out of questions for the day. Thanks to those of you that were actually helpful!

A: nope.. a small female bred to a large male will result in a dead mom, and dead puppies.. because she wont likely be able to carry shepherd mix pups to full term.. even if she does, she wont be able to whelp them naturally.

There’s nothing cute about dead puppies.

I counted at least 7 questions that you’ve asked today.. you got about 8 left for today… if even that much. Better make em good.
