Q: Dachshund puppies?
Hi, I have two weiner puppies that are less than 3 months old, and i need a good shampoo for fleas and sensitive skin for them. Any suggestions? Thanks.

A: I am a Dacshund breeder. For dogs with sensitive skin I alwasy use regular Dawn dish soap. You do not have to leave it on them like regular Flea shampoo. Avoid their eyes. Hope this helps.

Q: dachshund puppies?
What is the normal time before puppies open their eyes after birth?

A: The puppies’ eyes should be open at 10-14 days of age.

Q: How do I sell dachshund puppies for the first?
Hello, I have a female chocolate dachshund and a cream and white male dachshund and they both have papers. They are going to have puppies together and this my first time selling puppies and I don’t know how to get papers with the puppys and good stuff like that. So if you could help me out on this than that would be good.

A: Ask your mentor.

Q: Where do you buy dachshund mix puppies in South East Michigan?
I’m looking for a mixed dachshund puppy litter in my area. Are there any good websites to find affordable puppies? My area code is 49068. We’d like to find puppies/a breeder in that general area.

A: Go to pet finder, it helps, or look up “daschund puppies, 49068 MI” and see what comes up. Also look for a shelter.

Q: Where to find miniature dachshund puppies in Oklahoma?
Please only respond if you’re going to be serious.

I am looking for miniature dachshund puppies for sale in Oklahoma. The money will be raised by myself, so I don’t want prices like $600. That’s way too much to earn by myself.

Color and coat aren’t of importance. Can you please help me find a companion? Thanks so much!

A: Pet finder is always a good place to start. Here is a link. http://www.petfinder.com/index.html I found one for my sister at a local shelter. She was actually a mix with rat terrier, but she looked like a pure breed with a slightly shorter snout. She is adorable and it only cost us $80 to adopt her. The kids love her. They named her Minnie, and she is a yr old now, she was only 10 weeks old we got her.

If you really want to make sure you get a pure breed then check with the local chapter of the AKC in your phone book. They will be able to connect you with a reputable breeder. You can also do a search for Dachshund rescues in Oklahoma and something should come up for you. Good luck!

Q: How do you know what price to charge for miniature dachshund puppies? Are they based on the coat colors?
My female red dapple toy dachshund just had 5 beautiful puppies from 10:30PM-2:37AM. We have 2 brindle, 1 choc. and tan, 1 piebald, and 1 blue and tan dapple. I want to know how u determine what price to charge for them. Thanks

A: Congratulations!
You set a price range, say from $500-$700. Watch the pups as they mature enough to tell the REAL quality, having little to do with color, but all to do with the breed standard, as recognized by AKC, UKC, CanadianKC, etc.
There will be ’stars’ in your litter. The ones that just sparkle and conform to the breed standards the best. Those are the ones to put the higher price on. Your rare colored ones may turn out to be the best or the worst, so it wouldn’t be fair to sell one higher JUST because of color.
As you continuure your breeding program, you should always look for the best in the colors you desire, and then hopefully you will be having ‘even’ litters. (great color AND overall quality)
Breeding for only color is THE most detrimental issue to the breed, as inferior dogs become the norm, all for the sake of color.
Yes, the rare colors are fun, but should never be the determining factor of pricing or breeding.
I have been going through this with my breed. I made the mistake of buying the most gorgeous stud dog, in the most fashionable color….He turned out to be ..1. stupid, 2. develped low thyroid.
If I had looked more into his parent’s history, I would have known this, but I was blinded by his dazzle and show record.
Thankfully, I did not use him for breeding, as one female totally rejected him, and I learned of his problems before another came in heat. He is now living on a farm, as a family pet.
Anyway, I would have saved myself alot of money and heartache if I had not been color-blinded.
Hope this helps, and good luck with your puppies.

Q: Where is the best place to list purebred Dachshund puppies for sale online?
Looking for suggestions on where to list purebred dachshund puppies for sale on the net

A: I suggest you try selling them on ebay or post a sign in the local Vets office and grocery store.

Q: Do you like these names for my new dachshund puppies?
My sister and I named our two new miniature long haired dachshund puppies Willow and Fawn, do you think these are good names?

Willow has a reddish coat so far and Fawn is kind of brownish :)

What do you think?

A: Those sound good.

Q: How long before a male dachshund puppy can make puppies?
I bought a male dachshund puppy about a year and a half ago and i want him to reed my to female dogs. Theyve hooked up many times but no puupies! When can i expect some?

A: Does he have both testicle down? It sounds like he is shooting blanks..at his age, it is likely permanent..

Q: Do male Dachshund puppies always squat to pee or do they eventually hike?
I have a 6 month old Dachshund male puppy named Mojo. He squats to pee right now but I wanted to know if that will always be the case or if he will eventually hike to pee? I have a new baby with lots of toys on the floor and I need to be aware if he will be hiking and peeing on them.

A: I would get him neutered as soon as possible, I have a male and got him neutered when he was three months old and he’s over a year old now and has never lifted his leg to pee. But he’s not a dachshund, he’s a mutt. lol
The vet told me that getting them neutered helps with a lot of dogs, if you get them neutered before they reach sexual maturity, but its not a guarantee; some will still do it even if you do get them neutered at an early age.

Q: can anybody tell me more about dappled dachshund puppies?
I got a dachshund at 8 weeks old, he is now 4 months and he is starting to get spots like a dappled dachshund. Is this normal for a dappled puppy?

8 weeks:

now:

A: Dappling is usually evident at birth, and may fade as the dog gets older, rather than the other way around. With a red I suppose it may be possible for the spots to become more evident as the true coat/guard hair (as opposed to puppy fuzz) grows in and/or the pet gets out in the sun more.
Dappling is caused by a (dominant) albino gene. Did you see the sire and/or dam? A pup absolutely cannot be dappled unless at least one of the parents is.
That having been said it is NOT wise to breed a dapple to a dapple, or a dapple to a red, (because sometimes the dappling on a red dachsie is very subtle) the idea is to avoid accidently breeding double-dappled pups as getting hit with that albino gene twice (one from each parent) plays havoc with eyes ears and occasionally innards. Some SERIOUS birth defects.

Q: My mini. dachshund puppies have bumps on their heads what could it be?
My 2 year old Zoie had 9 full blooded mini dachshund puppies. About a week ago I noticed a few bumps on one of the males head. They are white crusty bumps that you can peel off. About 4 of them have them now. I am very worried and am not sure what it could be. is this normal or something more serious? I read about some people whos dog had it but it went away once the puppies immune system developed properly.

A: It may be a staph infection. Antibiotics from a vet should clear it up. Since they’re just babies, seeing the vet is probably best…

Q: Where can i list pure breed Dachshund puppies?
I live in ambridge, pa. 15 minutes from the airport.
I have pure breed dachshunds, mini.
2 boys 2 girls.
I don’t want anything crazy for them.
I just would like to find them homes before they are ready.
So i know the people who buy them are sure.
These puppies are too adorable not to go to a loving home.

A: There are a lot of poorly bred Dachshund out there so just add yours to the list. I would give them to a rescue organization and than get your female fixed. We don’t need any more BYgreeders on here.
