Q: I just found the best rescue i have ever worked with, they are called So. California Golden Retriever Rescue?
I was wondering if any one else has ever dealt with them. They are brand new but really really nice and accomadating to the adoptor which is rare. The last rescue I dealt with to get my Golden Retriever was horrible.

A: How wonderful you found a good rescue to work with. I don’t know them, but most rescues have the best interest of the dogs at heart. The main thing that most rescues want is a good “forever” home for their breed.

Q: Southern California Golden Retriever Rescue just rescued puppies from a puppy mill situation similar to those?
spotlighted on the Oprah Show. I am putting in my application to try and adopt one. Has anyone dealt with this rescue, they look like a wonderful place.

A: God bless you.
Thank you for saving a life.

Q: scgrrescue.org is a new golden retriever rescue. i am looking to adopt. Has anyone dealt with this group?
I submitted an application to another golden rescue over a month ago and am still waiting for a response. A friend of mine just heard about this group so I thought I would give them a try. I was wondering if any one else had any experience with them. Thanks.

A: Their website looks ok. Give them a call and suss them out, or drop by on an improntu visit.

Q: I am donating somethings to the golden retriever rescue center what else could I donate?
I plan to donate some $$ and stuff animals and balls…anything else anyone can think of? Blankets maybe?

A: Rescues always need money… trust me!

Blankets, dog beds, crates, food, are always much appreciated.

Q: Golden Retriever Rescue groups in New Brunswick Canada?
Can anyone tell me of any rescue groups on New Brunswick Canada? Of even in the Atlantic Provinces preferably New Brunswick?

A: Here’s a list of animal shelters in New Brunswick:

These aren’t specifically Golden Retriever rescues, but since Goldens are so common I’m sure you can find one if you’re patient.

Q: How to introduce golden retriever (rescue dog) to new puppy!!?
I have a golden retriever who is about 4 years old. I got him through a rescue org about a year and a half ago. I am now going to get a new puppy, an olde english bulldogge, in about two weeks but am worried about introducing him to her. I have had other dogs that I watch when friends go on vacation and such and he isn’t aggressive towards them but he does seem to be some what jealous of them he just come right to me and tries to make me pet only him and if I’m petting the other dog he will butt in. Is there any way to break him of this before I get the new puppy to try and avoid any problems that might arise when I do get the new puppy. And also any tips on what to do when I do get the new pup on introducing them. Thanks!! Oh and he was a dog that was abused when he was little and had BAD seperation anxiety but has over come that mostly. He is a very timid dog around men and such. But loves kids and playing with other dogs at my moms. Should I bring him with when I go pick up the new puppy which is about 4 hours away so they can meet in the car at a neutral spot. So they can get to know each other on the ride home idk if that’s a good idea or not thanks!!

A: If your Golden is a buttinsky then what will help is NOT to reward him for butting in for petting. The next time he does it, ignore him. If you give in and pet him, he learns that butting in gets him what he wants.
Having them meet on neutral territory should help. Just keep in mind that if they are in the car together on the way back and your Golden is used to having the back seat all to himself, he might be annoyed at having company.
Finally, if this is a very young puppy you should not have too many problems if your Golden is a normal, well-adjusted dog. Your Golden will most likely see this as a new playmate. Little puppies can usually get away with murder because of the “puppy license.” By the time your pup gets to be about 4 months though, don’t be too surprised if the older dogs starts to give the puppy what-for for bad behavior. The older dog will see himself as the teacher, and somebody has to teach the little one the ways of dogs.
Good luck and I hope it works out!

Q: Where can I find older golden retriever rescue/adoption/fostering in new england?
I am looking to foster a golden retriever with the intent to adopt. I am specifically looking for a golden that is between 3 and 7 years old, but would take a dog a little older or a little younger. I do not want a puppy. I want to rescue a dog from a shelter or adopt a dog that is no longer wanted in a home. I live in New England. Any help/websites/information would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

A: Check out http://www.petfinder.com

You can search local shelters for any breed you want. Most shelters do a little write-up about the dog. Good Luck.

Q: I just got a golden retriever from a rescue yesterday?Wants a lot of attention/whimpering a lot?
We’ve bonded REALLY well. I take her outside, for walks, gave her her favorite homemade treat (peanut butter sandwich) and have been really good with her. I just got her yesterday, from a golden retriever rescue GGLGR. Lucy has really bonded with ME, I’ll say. My parent don’t pay A LOT of attention to her, but they do some. I don’t see either of them ever taking her for a walk or to the dog park while I’m at shool. I’ll have to do that myself.

Anyway, as I said she’s ONLY attached to me. Whenever I’m not there she doesn’t seem to be happy. Like several minutes ago, it’s freezing and I didn’t really want to go outside, so I just let Lucy go out with my dad. She wouldn’t even look around because I wasn’t there. As soon as I came outside, there goes her tail, wagging. And now, she is whimpering a lot for my attention. I’ve been on the computer a bit, and she stays by me. Like right now, she’s laying her head down and will jump up after I stand up. Is this normal? Will this blow over in a few days? When she whimpers, it makes me feel so bad. I just have to do SOMETHING with her. But since she’s so new, theres not MUCH to do with her. She isn’t too fond of her toys or treats…….

Just help me! Give me anything….

A: She’s attached to you, because she knows that you will pay some attention to you. You have to remember that she’s been in a shelter. Shelter personal can give each animal just so much attention. She is so happy that she has you (and you her) that sometimes she can’t contain herself when you come home from school and sad when you have to leave her for what ever reason. She has found someone to love that will love her back. She is your protector.

Don’t force it, but try to spend a little more time with your parents so that your dog will feel just as comfortable with them as she feels with you. It’s a learning time for all. It sounds like your parents agreed to let you have Lucy, therefore you are the one who will carry the most responsibility and care for Lucy.

It’s only been one day that you’ve had Lucy. Give her time to adjust to the whole family and the family to Lucy. Why the heck would your parents want to take Lucy for walk when it’s freezing outside. You don’t want to have to do it either. Those are just some of the chores that come with having Lucy. It sounds to me that Lucy feels lucky to have found a home where she will be loved and cared for.

Don’t worry so much about her behavior. That will be taken care of as time goes on. She needs time to settle in to family life and I believe you all with be in for a loving treat.

Q: Where can I find my Golden Retriever a good adoptive home?
I have to move into an apartment that won’t take my 9year old dog. I love him dearly and don’t want him put down. I tried The Golden Retriever Rescue League but they aren’t giving me much hope. Any other suggestions? I need help fast. I was depending on the rescue league.

A: The other option would be Petfinder.com but PLEASE be careful. There are a ton of scammers who will offer to ship your pet to them. Never ever agree to ship your dog. Ask to meet the new owners in person and if possible at the home where they plan to bring the dog..and then ask for references and charge a suitable adoption fee. Anyone who wants a dog will be willing to pay a bit to get one. Just remember, if the home sounds too good to be true it probably is. I know how hard it is with an older dog. Hang in there! Also, ask your local Petsmart and local vets. Petsmart normally has adoption days where you could bring him and sit and possibly find him a home. At the very least they may be able to point you in the right direction. An ad in the local paper couldn’t hurt either. Good luck!!

Q: Will you vote for my dog to help our golden retriever rescue?
Hi dog lovers!

Please take a minute to vote for my dog Satchel as Bissell’s “Most Valuable Pet”. Here is the link:

This will give my place of employment, Delaware Valley Golden Retriever Rescue, the chance to receive a $10,000 donation from Bissell if we win and make it into the finals. We ask for your help and support to make this happen! Please email to all your friends and ask them to vote for Satchel. Today is the last day to vote for him.

Thanks so much!

p.s. You will not receive junk email! – I promise!

A: Handsome dog. I voted….Good Luck!

Q: Is it easy to find Golden Retriever rescue programs?
I’ve ‘rescued” a Golden from a friend of mine whose family didn’t really want her anymore or have the proper time for her. She’s an awesome dog, and I’ve decided that when she goes (she’s only 5 1/2) I’d like to do the same thing again and rescue another full grown Golden. Is it pretty common to have GR rescue programs? I can’t for the life of me fathom why people would give up these great dogs. As a matter of principle I will never pay $$ for a purebred dog but i will rescue them from the people who do.

A: Yes. Just Google Golden Retriever Rescue of ****** (wherever you live…state, country, etc.)

Q: What is a good masculine name for a rescued golden retriever?
I just rescued a 9 month old male golden retriever and need a name for him. He is big, blond, and maybe something that ends in an o but not necessary. Lots of choices would be appreciated

A: Franco, Frisco, Tonto, Kato, Carlo, Mikko or Nikko, Rio, Balto
