Q: Labrador????
Hi . I have a four year old labrador. Recently i’ve noticed a small growth forming above his eye. ( its quite small and is borwn in colour). I might be imagining it but it seems to be getting bigger. what is it? thanks for your help.
A: Time to go to the vet.
Q: What is the difference between a labrador and a labrador retriever?
i want to get a labrador but i don’t know weather to get a labrador retriever or just a labrador because i don’t know the difference, so what is the difference?
A: no difference
Q: How do you control your labrador retriever while your walks?
Im ten and i want to know how to control your labrador while your on walks. What if im not strong enough to handle the labrador? Im asking this because i might help my mom’s friend walk her labrador. What if he’s pulling to hard and leading us to trouble? Thanks!
A: 3 points to consider.
1. Never use a choker. It hurts the dog even when the dog is doing good behaviour. Train your dog as well.
2. Use a harness, its more gripping and powerful.
3. Btw, I’m 11. I have a labrador too! I love labs!
P.S. This may sound silly, but whenever my dog is running too fast I stop myself and grab onto a pole because I’m scared I’ll fall over. lol!
Q: What is better, a labrador retriever or a golden retriever?
i am planning to get a puppy, and i was considering two breeds, either a golden retriever or a labrador retriever? i want an active and playful dog who will guard and defend my house from strangers. i also want a dog who doesn’t leave too much hair lying around. maybe only medium hair, and that’s all.
A: well, guard dogs aren’t a good idea. get a security system. and normally I would say goldens are way better than any breed ever. I do have prejudice against labs because I have a friend that has one that is so annoying. he was raised by them from a puppy, not abused, but he is really skiddish, and hes really rough. Im not saying all are like that, but the one I know is. but since you specifically said no shedding, I would think the obvious answer would be a lab. but if you want the attitude of a golden without any shedding AT ALL (not one hair) I suggest a golden doodle. they are a golden poodle cross. but the benefits in the golden situation greatly outweigh the hair. and this is my personal opinion, but I think the golden is the most gorgeous dog on earth.
Q: How to traine my labrador to speak in English?
I want to teach atleast a word to speak to my labrador, where will i start from, how long it took,or i can’t do it?
A: I’m a little confused by your question. DO you mean that you want your Lab to understand English Commands? I assume that you therefore have not been using English around him/her?
You could teach him to “sit” in English in 30 minutes if you use the reward method of training. Tell him or her to “SIT.” When he/she does the action you want, give them a treat. You could SHOW them the action by pushing down on their rear end the first few times and giving a treat as you do that. THen keep saying: “SIT” and when they finally do it by themselves, give a treat. Keep doing that until they get it. Labs are really bright–they’ll get it pretty quickly if you are consistent. Don’t give a treat if they don’t do the action (that will just confuse them about what you want them to do).
If you want to do other commands, then use the same method.
Now, owners are not sometimes as bright as we’d like to be… if you’re trying to get your lab to SPEAK English, well, then that’s a whole different matter.
Q: What breed could a Labrador be bred with so the offspring will essentially look like oversized-labs?
This may seem like an odd question, but how would you breed a Labrador so that the offspring end up with almost exactly the same ‘lab look’, but just over-sized (with hardly any other deviant traits present in the offspring)? I would think that the other breed would have to look very similar to the lab.
Thanks!
The reason I ask is because I love the temperament of a lab, but I would much rather have a larger dog.
It’s not so I can breed, I would like to FIND that kind of dog.
A: Here is where you can find BIG Labrador mixes.
There are also some big Labs.

Q: How to train a large Labrador retriever not to jump on people?
Have a 3 year old Labrador Retriever who constantly jumps on me. It is difficult to play with him as he is huge and is often close to knocking me over. How do I train him not to jump? For those of you who are wondering: Yes, I do take him for regular walks.
A: Its all about consistency, this will show you how

Good luck
Q: At what age should my labrador start cocking his leg?
My labrador is 7 mths old and hasn’t cocked his leg yet.
Is it instinct or do they learn it from other male dogs. We have a 10 year old Maltese cross but she is a girl.
Will he learn how to cock his leg on his own with no male dog influence?
Does it matter if he doesnt cock his leg?
A: They normally start around 6 months of age, but there’s no set time. Not all dogs will lift their leg, and it makes no difference whether they do or not.
l know a Lab that has never lifted his leg and he’s a few years old now. He lives with two older female Labs and has just copied them.
Q: How do I stop my labrador from being so aggressive when treats are around?
I have a labrador retriever named Molly who is a very sweet dog. The only time we really have a problem with her is when we give her treats. She never bites, but if I have a treat that I am giving her, she will bite me to get the treat. How can I stop this problem?
A: Doesn’t sound like she’s aggressive – it sounds like she’s eager.
At first, I thought you meant she bites your other dog when given treats.
Most dogs don’t know how to gently take treats.
When you go to give her a treat, Sit her, and wait a few seconds – then as you go to give her the treat, Say “GENTLE” and only give it to her when she’s taken it gently.
Q: How can you get a chocolate brown coloured Labrador Retriever?
I have a white colored male Labrador and a black colored female Labrador Retriever. If I let both dogs mate, will I get a chocolate brown colored dog?
A: It all depends on their genes, if they carry the dominant chocolate gene then it is possible that they could produce chocolate pups, but it is a very slim possibility and not really worth the risk, it would be much easier to just buy a chocolate Lab.
Q: How do you unlock the labrador in nintendogs dalmation and friends?
I’ve just started a new game and I’m
just wondering, how many
trainer points do you need
to unlock the labrador retriever?
Thanx.
A: you must get 45.000 owner points to unlock the Labrador Retriever breed at the kennel
Q: How many shots Does my labrador need and how much will it cost me?
I really want a labrador retriever but my parents are little tight on money right now so I wanted to know how many shots my lab would need(if Im able to get one) and how much it would cost me and my parents.
A: you can check with your local humaine society to see about adoption also. i think it’s $40 dollars or something and all the pets are already completely taken care of as far as shots and de-worming and everything. plus these darlings need good homes.
Q: How many toys should a labrador puppy have?
We are getting a labrador puppy in a few days, we recently went to buy some essentials for him including toys. However I am not sure if we bought enough. We bought a soft fluffy squeaky pheasant, a kong toy, and a tug of war rope. Is this enough, if not could you reccomend other toys?
A: He needs an indestructible bouncy ball and your undivided attention to play with him. Nothing more.
Q: How do we take care of labrador puppies in such a hot climate in chennai and what food to keep them healthy?
Chennai is very burning hot these days and i have two labrador puppies with me. What should i do to keep them away from this heat and what food should t give to keep them healthy and strong? I also want to take them to my home town by train from chennai to guwahati. What are the safety measures needed to take while travelling by train.
A: i have heard of cool packs for dogs. google it see if you can find any near you.when traveling make sure they have water. when we travel by car i freeze a few bottles of water and as it melts they drink it from the bottle, nothing beats freash ice water when your hot. I don’t know how far the trip is (lenght of time) so I can’t give any tips there. sry.as for food find something where meat is the first few indegrents. no corn and as little filler as you can afford.
Q: Is It safe to keep a labrador retriever and a rabbit both at home together?
I have a rabbit 8months old.I want to buy a labrador retriever at home.
I heard that lab s are gentle even with small animals.I want to know whether it is safe to keep them both at a same place(home) together?
A: it will have to depend on the dogs temperment. labs are very sweet dogs. if you introduce them at a young age that should help. always keep your bunny in its cage when your not suppervising though!!! better save then sorry right?
