I have a terrier and I am interested in getting another dog. What are some cool breed/mixes that would be good with a terrier? My mom is slightly allergic, so I was thinking a poodle mix. We prefer littler dogs, too. What is a good poodle mix that looks cute, too?

Q: What is a reasonable price for a shih-tzu and a poodle mix?
My poodle just gave birth last night to 3 puppies and we can’t figure out a reasonable price that people will be willing to pay for a shih-tzu and a poodle mix puppy so if you can help please do!!. :)

A: I wouldn’t pay no more then the local adoption fee around your area or no more then $50-60 bucks for any mix, no matter how cute they maybe be. Of course I would expect the people to have the 1st puppy shots and de worming, if not I’m not going to pay a lot. Only 1 in 10 dogs find their forever home..be careful who you let your pups go too…they might end up homeless, abused, neglected, or in a puppy mill or some people’s back yard being bred again and again until they wear out…there are some crazy people out there…so do make sure they get good homes.

I think you should also have the pups on a spay/neuter contract…or else they might end up in the hands of a greedy careless back yard scum bag breeder who breeds only for money…many of their dogs end up dead and in shelters..I wouldn’t want that to happen to any dog I sold…so do reference checks on the potential buyers…

Are you willing to take back one of the pups if the buyer can’t keep him/her later down the road? Things happen and reputable breeders know this..which is why they will take back a dog that can’t stay with the owners anymore…rather that then them end up in a shelter where 4-6 million are euthanized each year.

Q: How often is too much for my little poodle mix to poo?
I just got him on saturday. Hes a poodle mix, weighs 6lbs (going to vet tomarrow will ask about this question but just worried)
He only eats about a half cup a day, maybe 3/4. been offering it morning and night.
He seems to poo 4x a day. It seems to be the ‘normal’ sized. My husband is thinking this is way too much. Is it? or is this normal?

A: yes it’s normal. he will no doubt drop down to 2 or 3 times. don’t forget this little guy was starving, and his tummy really doesn’t know how to deal with the extra food to put some weight on. the vet will tell you how to deal with things. how is he reacting towards you? i know he is getting along with the rest of the kids or you would have mentioned it. i’m waiting for a lhasa which is supposed to be brought to me, i wonder if the cat will speak to me?

Q: Is there such thing as a labrador retriever and poodle breed/mix?
i was walknig in the park yesterday and some lady said her dog was a retriever and poodle mix.Umm never hear of this.Get some pics if you can thanks.

A: They are a new designer breed intended to “trick” folks into believing that they can have a lab that doesn’t shed. In all honesty, what these “breeders” fail to tell people is that the likelihood that their puppy will have that wonderful poodle hair is slim to none. Most of the puppies still shed, just like labs. Only now, they have long shedding hair that is a mess to groom.

Those that are lucky enough to get the poodle hair, end up with a dog that looks like, well, a poorly bred poodle.

The sad part, is that many of these dogs end up in rescue because these 2 breeds are not a good mix. The “breeders” who are mass producing these poor monstrosities do so with zero regard to temperment or health. Poodles and labs are both prone to hip dysplasie- and the parents of these offspring are not being screened for it. (Or any other genetic conditions.)

It’s very sad!

ADD: The current breeds did NOT come about by people randomly throwing 2 dogs together to “see what happened”- it came about by people very dedicated to the breed they were developing, and the task at hand- careful pairings were made, as well as careful study of the parents/offspring to figure out how best to create the breed intended for the specific purpose in mind- it took centuries and was done with care- NOT like todays “mutt breeders”!

Q: Is it ok to mate a toy poodle with a maltese standard poodle mix?
I have a female toy poodle that is in heat and my friend owns a maltese mixed with standard poodle. Will it be to much for my dog to bare?

A: Yep.. definately too much. You’ll be risking your girl’s life.

there is a dog is a mix of a doberman&poodle. right now it’s 8weeks old and small as a chihuahua, maybe 5lbs. how big do u think it will get?

A: no way of knowing with a mixed breed dog.. part of it will depend on the size of poodle used.. poodles come in toy, mini and standard.

If you know which size poodle was used, you can see what the average size is for that poodle, and figure it will be anywhere between that and the size of a doberman.

Q: I just got a Yorkie poodle mix breed and i have a question?
I just got a yorkie poodle mix breed and i was wondering if there is anyway to tell if the puppy will be more yorkie dominate or poodle or half and half. I got this puppy from the pound so the only information i have is that the mom was a yorkie and the dad was poodle.

A: As far as disposition it is hard to tell. As it matures it will change. Mixed breed dogs usually carry a mix of both parents genetic code. Some good things and sometimes not so good. Its anybody’s guess. Both Yourkies and poodles can be a bit nippy and both can be nervous dogs. The environment it grows up in will make a definite impact on the dogs disposition. Good Luck

Q: Can I free feed my Bichon Poodle Mix?
I have an 8 month old Bichon Poodle Mix. She is in excellent condition and her weight is normal according to the vet. I leave about 3/4 of a cup of Innova Dog Food everyday and i decide to maker her choose when to eat whenever she feels like it. She somehow manages to “budget” how much she eats, so she would have enough left for dinner. Giving her the daily recommendation of the Innova Dog Food, would I risk my dog being obese in the long run?

A: If your pup is in the excellent condition as you say, and has a proper weight, then you are feeding the proper amount.

Although I personally prefer set meals, leaving dry food out is fine in this case. This is becaue you actually are not ‘free feeding’ but instead are feeding one portioned amount per day. Freefed dogs generally get as much dry food as they want…the amount is not measured. You are feeding your pup once a day and letting her eat when she feels like it. The key is not to refill the bowl just because it is empty!
As your pup grows older, however, you may need to adjust the amount of food that she gets. Just keep a close eye on her. Ideally, you should be able to feel your dog’s ribs with just a light covering of fat. If you can’t feel them without pressing, they might need to lose a bit of weight. If you can see the ribs or in this case feel them easily, the dog is too thin and needs to gain a bit.
It sounds like you are doing a great job with your pup. Keep up the good work and congrats on being a concerned owner. Overweight dogs, just like overweight people, run the risk of many diseases, including arthritis, joint problems, and diabetes.

Q: I have a poodle mix dog, what is a breed of dog that would get along with him?
I have a lhasapoo, (lhasa apso poodle mix). He is 5 years old and the only company he has is my 12 year old cat. Rudy is the name, (Short for Rudolph, I got him around christmas haha.) and I think he needs a buddy. Does anyone know a good type of breed that he’d get along with?
