Q: Does anyone know of a poodle rescue organization in the Rocky mountain area?
I just lost my boxer to Boxer Cardiomyiopothy-sorry for my spelling. She was one of two dogs. The other is a standard poodle. I just know that she is extremely lonely now that she doesn’t have a friend to play with. I was thinking about another poodle or another boxer. But having another boxer scares me that my next one will only be with us for two years like the last one. If you have any information about any dogs that I could rescue or any organizations for either boxers or poodles that are in or near CO. that would be the biggest help! Thank you.

A: You can go to:

www.petfinder.com/

and click on the link at the top of the page that reads SHELTERS & RESCUE GROUPS.

You can then search for a rescue by the breed of the dog and your zip code.

Q: I’am looking for a poodle rescue foundation?
I’am looking for a poodle rescue foundation that will help me place a miniture poodle with a happy home.

A: go to petfinder.com…..this is a site for rescue groups…..just enter your Zip code, and be AMAZED at how many great choices you have !!…..this will help you find the different rescue groups, that operate in your vicinity….start out with Miniature Poodle first, and see what groups come up…..i hope this helps you place your miniature poodle, with a good rescue group, that can get her adopted to a new family !!!

Q: Is there anyway to AKC Register my rescue poodle ?
Here is what I am wondering. Can I AKC register my poodle, which I got from the Animal Protection League? He is 2 years now and I am just wondering. Its not a big deal if I can’t I love him no matter what. Just wondering if I could get him registered.
Thank you for all the answers. I have no idea of the parental history and so on. I got Smokey from the Animal Protection League. He was rescued from a Puppy Mill. I was just interested in getting him registered to do agility and obstacle courses. Thanks for the information.

A: This website explains how to register a rescued dog (or a dog whose papers were lost) and also lists the benefits of registering.

Q: How long would you expect a poodle cross from a rescue home to live for?
Oh it’s a standard poodle

A: I am wondering if this is a teacup, minature or standard poodle. The rule of thumb is the smaller the dog, the longer they live. Smaller dogs can live up to 15 years or more. Great danes live to be about 7 or 8. If yours is a medium sized dog, depending on the quality of care you give her, she could live for 10-12 years or so.

Q: poodle rescue for re-homing?
wher can i locate a poodle rescue home. cant wait to get a new doggy young or old. but want a small poodle,

A: Make a phone call to the uk kennel club. They hold all the details of recognised rescues in the country. Before deciding that you will take a poodle be aware that this is one of the dogs that will take up a lot of time for daily grooming and you will need to have them taken to a professional groomer every 6 weeks to have them clipped. This is why so many poodles end up in rescues, because they are so time consuming.

Q: I am interested in standard poodle rescue. I live in NJ but would travel.?
Can any recommend sources to find an adult?

A: Contact Small Paws Rescue, they rescue Bichon Frises which are often mistaken for Poodles. If they do not have a Poodle or Poodle mix then I am sure they will be able to help you.

Q: 450.00 Adoption fee???! Poodle rescue???!?
Can someone explain to me if this is a legitamate rescue fee?
someone on one of the yahoo groups that Im on just posted a standard poodle with an adoption fee of 450.00!?

Is this just really high for MY area? I understand that it costs money to run a rescue….but WOW…please correct me if Im not understanding something…
CORRECTION…Maybe I should have said ‘COMMON’ instead of ‘LEGITAMATE’
ADDED:
I’m not looking to adopt one, it was just an email that came to the whole group advertising the dogs. They are young, no health problems….
BUT, she IS doing it from her home, and says all expenses come from her own pocket…
ADDED: OH, I just also learned that her web site is through PETFINDER.COM

A: Wow, you could probably buy a registered one for a little more than that. Sounds too high to me.

Q: Poodle Rescue Locations?
Where can I find a Poodle Rescue in the UK????

can you please give me the website and adress please.

thank you and good luck! =)

A: Just type in Poodle Rescues in the UK. Beware though. Many “rescues” are just puppy mills selling their used up breeding stock. Buying from them will only go to further support bad breeding.

You could also google dog shelters in the UK. You can find purebred dogs, even poodles, in shelters.

Edit: Next day pets are puppy mills and back yard breeders advertising their puppies.

Q: Looking for Poodle Rescues in Washington State – surrounding states?
My family and I have empty nest syndrome, if you will when it comes to dogs. I have been searching over Washington, Oregon and Idaho looking for Poodle Rescue centers who actually want to part with their poodles.

We live in Western Washington and are anxiously looking. Please be kind in your posts.

Thank you.

A: Try Seattle Purebred Dog Rescue.

They are an excellent organization

Q: Poodle rescue PLEASE help, in Southern Mississippi?
I am posting this for some friends at a rescue….please contact them direct if you can, or know of anyone who can help!!

Suzanne Youg
There are 2 Standard Poodles in the Humane Society of South Mississippi. We have told them we will get them. We need help transporting them. Do you know of ANYONE who will get them before Friday 4/5 & where they could transport to? We have people in the Panhandle of Florida who could meet them 1/2 way.
We do not want the Humane Society to put them down Friday & they said they would hold them for us.

Q: miniature poodle rescue dog concern/help?
A woman I met rescued a miniature poodle and has had him 6 wks now- apricot litlte guy- and she allowed him to sleep with her, etc..then he didn’t like others near his “person” and growls. I think first time rescuers like I would be need to realize they don’t act “normal” overnight–but any tips-? the trainer she spoke to said to crate him at night and he cried straight through so she is now sleeping on the floor in front of the crate and has been to comfort the dog letting him know the crate at night is OK. She thinks the poor guy was electric shock trained as to how he reacts at his name being called. This woman is a very intelligent well traveled human.

A: This little guy is right about at the settle in stage and testing boundaries. It is very important at this stage that everything is done to help him understand that he is not #1 or #2 or even #3..He is like #87. he is below all people and humans, and that he must even treat other animals with respect. Many people feel that sleeping location is a pack privilege, so by letting this pup sleep on the bed she basically told him he was her equal, potentially even her superior if he was allowed to push her aside.
Crate training is a stepwise process, most dogs can’t just go into a crate for the first time and understand.
Short periods in there with a favorite toy or treat is important. I’ve attached some guidelines on crate training.
Also, people aggression is a huge challenge that should be discontinued. Again it is about knowing the pecking order of life. surprisingly, dogs who know how they fit in are often very very happy doggies. They are secure. They don’t have to protect their person from any potential situation (like passing someone on the street),and they can relax and enjoy life. When you help your dog understand this, you are truly showing your love by telling them “I’m in charge; it is all good.”

Q: is there a poodle rescue in okla?

A: Try searching petfinder.com for poodles or if you want you can look it up by rescue group…

Q: I’m trying to contact Creole Poodle Club Rescue in Gonzales, LA. It’s an animal shelter tp adopt pets.
I am trying to adopt this Shih Tzu half poodle dog and on their website it’s only an email address. No phone number is available. The dog is perfect but I’ve gotten no response from this organization in the past 4 days. Can someone shed some light?

A: It would likely be in a Baton Rouge phone book. Try looking online.

Q: Anyone know of a poodle rescue site online? I’m in the market for a tiny toy or teacup poodle.?

A: http://adopt-a-poodle.adoptapet.com/

Try that site. Also, there is no such thing as a teacup dog. It’s just a runt or a puppy that is the result of runts being bred to other runts for generations. They have health problems and usually die young. Try to get a toy, miniature, or standard. Those are the only 3 sizes there are.
