Q: where can i find merle mini or toy poodle puppies for sale?
i live in CA, but a lot of places ship, im looking for a male merle, red or blue. any help appreciated!

A: Merle is not an accepted color in poodles. Not likely to find a RESPONSIBLE breeder of one anywhere. A responsible breeder will:

1) be breeding to the breed’s standard..no teacup, micro, mini, imperial,
king, or other goofy term for runts or oversized dogs. No intentional
“rare”, meaning unaccepted by the breed standard, colors either.

2) will be actively showing or working the parents.

3) will have genetic health testing done, such as OFA or PennHip, CERF,
VonWillebrand’s, etc.

4) will give you the results of that testing in writing

5) insists on spay/neuter for pet pups.

6) has a contract citing the spay/neuter clause and also offering to take
back the pup at any time for any reason for the rest of its life.

7) is open, honest, and available to the new owner, and can talk aobut their
breed for hours.

8) does a home check before placing a pup, and will turn down homes that
might not be suitable for a pup of their breed.

9) does not put money above the well-being of their animals.

If the breeder you are considering doesn’t fit these guidelines, find a
better breeder. You are more likely to get a mentally and physically
healthy pup from a responsible breeder.

A: Try going on the AKC or KC website and find out if there are any breeders with avaible litter in your area.
or Contact your local shelter and see what they have

A: Go to a shelter and save a life.

If you are really sure you want to get a poodle, go to the Poodle Club of America. They have a section for clubs in your region that help with finding homes for rescue poodles.

If you are adamant about buying a poodle from a breeder, and what to expend the energy and expense to help improve the poodle breed, you can find a reputable breeder in your region by contacting Poodle Club of America. While I find the poodle a fine dog, ask yourself what you want the dog for. This will determine what you need.

If you want a “doodle” go to the shelter and save a life instead. They are all mixed breeds there too. You won’t find a dog in the shelter with its AKC papers waiting for you.

You can spend $2000 or more on an unproven mixed breed (mutt), with questionable health issues. The so called benefits that are claimed by these breeders have been proven to be false. That is a lot of money for a dog not recognized by the AKC.

If you really want to learn about the issues created with “designer:” or “hybrid” dogs, again go to the Poodle Club of America. There is a link to a very informative page.

Similarly, if you go to the page of the other dog breed crossed with the poodle, you will also find them not recommending the crossing of the breeds.

I’m not against new breeds, but the reputable breeder should be interested in health, structure, and temperament of the dog. This hasn’t been dog with these hybrid dog.

A: Let’s cut her some slack at least she asking, it is our job to educate her. Go on petfinder.com you can find great puppies for adoption and you will feel great to know that you saved a life. Please research the breed before you get it, a poodle and a yorkie are very active breeds that need exercise. Do not fall into the trend of abusing these dogs turning them into living barbies by dressing them up and putting them in a purse.

A: Try to find a reputable breeder by checking with the Bexar County Kennel club, or if you don’t care about pure breed there are lots of ads inj the paper for poodle. A Teacup poodle is a just a small toy poodle that like 5lbs or something.

A: this is not a purebred dog…pick one or the other and stop encouraging the mixing of breeds…there’s enough mutts out there now…if you must have a mutt go to a damn pound.

A: I personally do not have any for sale, nor would I suggest trying to find a puppy through a site like this, but you could try AKC’s website http://www.akc.org to find breeders in that area, or, even better, the Poodle Club of America, http://www.poodleclubofamerica.org could offer you some suggestions for breeders and rescue organizations in that area.
