A: Depends on where your at. Different places will sell for different prices. Check your local paper and see what the going rate is cause if you ask too much you will lose out.

Adoption fees are not expensive.
I should also add that finding one that is 6 weeks of age is very unlikely. Puppies should NOT leave their mother until they are 8 weeks old.
Plus! puppies GROW and one that is 6 weeks old, will eventually be 3 months, 5 months and et, so I don’t see WHY it has to be “around 6 weeks old”.

Q: How much to sale Shih Tzu puppies for?
I have an AKC registered female ShihTzu who got pregnant by my male Shih Tzu when we were on vaction and now we have beautiful Shih Tzu puppies. The daddy is not registered, my husband bought him and the peolpe said that he was not registered. I had 2 AKC registered Shih Tzus when I lived in Colorado and had 2 litters of puppies. I don’t really consider myself as a breeder, I just love this breed. We have only had 4 litters in 18 years of owning Shih Tzus. ( I get too attached and cry when they go to thier new homes) Now that my male is not registered I was wanting opinions on what to sale the puppies for.

A: IF you let your b*tch have a litter of pups, you are a breeder. If you don’t do health testing, improving the breed etc.. you are a byb. Sorry. I would carefully home them for the cost of the breeding and consider myself lucky my b*tch is still alive.

A: Why don’t you try an animal shelter? Am sure you will find one there and they won’t be as pricey! Most are already neautered and microchipped too, saving you money! Rescue dogs will really appreciate you and am sure you will feel good knowing that you have saved your new companion from unneccasary destruction.
Make sure you read a little bit about the breed you want too.

Q: I want to buy a female shih tzu in the Kentucky or West Virginia area. Anyone know of any puppies for sale?
I would like a full stock or shih tzu/lhasa mix puppy 6 weeks old and up. Nothing on petfinder or rescue groups most all of them are older need more care than i can provide for them at the present time. Any information would be greatly appreciated!
Just for the record, I have looked at the shelters and rescue groups and as I have stated above, I do not have the time to commit to an elderly pet because of the numerous vet trips that they require, nearly all on rescue groups are special needs, which means many trips to the vet, a lot of money, and many times they do not do well with other dogs. My heart goes out to them. I adopted from a shelter not too long and ended up losing my dog. But I want a puppy because I already have a shih tzu/lhasa and he is rather small and I would like to raise the puppy with him.

A: I don’t know of any breeders as I’m in another country. Contact your Shih Tzu breed club in your area and get a list of registered breeders. Ask to see parents or mother and printed registered papers.

6 weeks is too young to buy a puppy I would recomend 10 -12 weeks at the earliest.

Don’t by a cross breed puppy as you have no idea what it’s gonner turn out like. 90% of the time its not the mix they say it is.

If you must have a cross breed rescue one from a shelter!!!

If you don’t have time for a elder dog, you certainly don’t have time for a puppy. JMO

A: First, check with www.akc.org. The AKC has an area where breeders can list their puppies for sale. If you can’t locate one there, check with www.puppyfind.com but be very careful on that site. There are many backyard breeders and puppy mills that list there. I don’t know where Lima is, but I just got a puppy out of Dallas, West Virgina, near Wheeling, that was one of the most beautiful pups I have every seen.She is very high quality and AKC registered. The breeder has two puppies listed on that site. If you are able to travel there, I would highly recommend her!

A: First, contact the breeder. If she’s a good breeder, she will take the pup back rather than have it go into a rescue.

Have you talked with your family, friends and coworkers to see if any of them would be interested in her? Your primary concern should be getting her the very best home possible, not how much money you can get for her or how much you paid for her. Advertising in a newspaper is risky. You don’t know the people and what their true reasons are for wanting the pup. Even if you can’t keep her, she deserves a good life.

Another thought is to contact your local all-breed club. You can find out who to contact by going to the AKC website at www.akc.org. Click on Clubs in the navigation bar, and then click on About Clubs when the page changes (it’s on the left side of the page). At the bottom of the About Clubs page, there’s a link that says “Search for a club in your area.” Click that. Click on Conformation Clubs when the page changes. Leave the club type at the default “all breed,” but choose “Florida” under Select a State, and then click “Search.” Find the all breed club closest to you and contact them. They may be able to help you find a good home for her.

Also, in doing a search on the same page, it appears that there’s a Shih Tzu specialty club in central Florida. The information is as follows:

I know of a woman in Florida who does agility with her two Shih Tzu. One of them is getting older and about a year ago, she mentioned something about wanting to get a pup to add to her crew. She takes exceptional care of her dogs and loves them dearly. A home like that would be wonderful for your pup. You might ask the woman at the Shih Tzu specialty club if she knows of anyone who is doing performance with their Shih Tzu who might be interested in her.

Please keep your pup’s wellbeing in mind when you are finding her a new home. She didn’t ask to be brought into this world and she’s totally dependent upon you to do the right thing by her.

Please don’t put her in a pet store to be sold. That’s very frightening for them and they often aren’t treated very nicely there. She won’t understand why all of a sudden, she’s confined to a small cage, walking on wire, apart from the person she loves (you). It will break her heart and just might break her spirit as well.
